Member Service Representatives are responsible for assisting members and potential members with their credit union needs; explain services, set up new accounts, input and analyze loan requests, respond to problems, and direct members to the appropriate staff, while complying with credit union and government regulations.
Responsibilities Assists member with opening and closing accounts, answers questions about products and services.
Resolves problems that are within their authority to resolve.
Refers problems that are beyond their authority to their supervisor, along with their recommendations.
Identifies cross-sell opportunities and cross-sells services to members, such as:
checking accounts, certificate of deposits, IRA's, money markets, auto loans, and loan insurance products.
Explains loan programs, evaluate their needs and recommends loan options.
Interviews members to develop information concerning their loan needs, earnings, and financial condition.
Prepares and/or reviews all loan documents for completeness and accuracy.
Establishes the terms and conditions of an approved loan and reviews them with the members.
Maintains member account information on computer system.
Assures that appropriate records are maintained and require reports are prepared.
Enforces government regulations regarding CTRs, SARs; has a working knowledge of BSA, OFAC/FINCen, and Red Flag alert policies.
Acts as liaison between members and various internal and external departments.
Participates in sales development activities, such as:
car sales, which may include Saturday hours.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills Proven working experience in banking, personal banking, retail banking or financial services is preferred Basic PC knowledge and familiarity with electronic equipment Strong communication and time management skills Customer satisfaction-oriented Attention to detail and mathematical skills High school education or GED equivalent required Interpersonal Skills Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation.
Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.
